BENGALURU: The 27th edition of the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2024 (BTS 2024) concluded on November 21 at the iconic Bangalore Palace, marking a significant milestone in the global tech landscape. Themed “Unbound,” the three-day event brought together over 50,000 attendees, including delegates from 51 countries, solidifying Bengaluru’s position as a global innovation hub.
Transformative Collaborations and Policies
Inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, BTS 2024 witnessed the unveiling of groundbreaking policies like the Global Capability Centre (GCC) Policy and the Space Tech Policy, aimed at boosting investments, job creation, and technological advancements. The GCC Policy alone is expected to attract 500 global units, contributing $50 billion in revenue and creating 3.5 lakh jobs.
Information Technology Minister Priyank Kharge emphasized the state’s commitment to extending innovation beyond Bengaluru. “With 10,000 startups across cities like Mangaluru, Belagavi, and Hubli, Karnataka is fostering entrepreneurship statewide,” he said.
A Platform for Startups
The event spotlighted startups through initiatives like the Startup Pavilion, featuring 2,500 startups, and the Startup Springboard, where over 185 pitches were presented to 68 investors. Of these, 120 startups secured mentorship and funding, showcasing Karnataka’s robust entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Global Innovation at its Best
BTS 2024 hosted delegations from countries such as the USA, Germany, and Japan, fostering partnerships in AI, cybersecurity, and space tech. The summit also featured a six-track conference with 521 speakers, covering topics from biotech to deep tech.
Leading global companies like Biocon, DRDO, Intel, and others exhibited innovations, while the India-USA Tech Conclave and the Global Innovation Alliance highlighted international cooperation.
Shaping the Future
The event concluded with Karnataka reaffirming its leadership in IT exports, reporting ₹4.11 lakh crore in 2023-24. Initiatives such as the Nipuna Tech Skilling Program and Technology Business Incubators promise to further enhance the state’s innovation ecosystem.
As curtains fell on BTS 2024, it became evident that Bengaluru is not just keeping pace with global innovation—it is setting the benchmark.
